Toledo, Ohio---Fifteen Owens Community College student-athletes earned a spot on the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference's (OCCAC) All-Academic team for the spring semester on Monday.

The total represents nearly 50 percent (15 of 32) of the total number of student-athletes on the rosters for men's basketball, women's basketball and women's volleyball this spring. To earn a spot on the team, a student-athlete must complete at least 12 credit hours during the semester with at least a 3.30 GPA.

The Owens women's volleyball team placed nine of its 12 student-athletes on the spring team. Erika Angstmann (St. Marys Memorial/St. Marys, Ohio), Brooke Gyori (Clay/Oregon, Ohio) and Devon Heitkamp (New Bremen/New Bremen, Ohio) each earned a 4.00 GPA, while Carrigan Gray (Liberty-Benton/Findlay, Ohio), Olivia Hermiller (Ottawa-Glandorf/Ottawa, Ohio), Madison Lammers (New Knoxville/New Knoxville, Ohio), Annie Lindeman (Ottoville/Ottoville, Ohio), Ashley Pleiman (Fort Loramie/Fort Loramie, Ohio) and Christine Tylutki (Monroe/Monroe, Mich.) also made the team.

In fact, all nine of those student-athletes were also on the fall semester's all-academic team, and Owens had the most student-athletes on the team in the sport of volleyball among all conference schools.

The Owens women's basketball team had four selections, led by Haili Mossing's (Evergreen/Metamora, Ohio) 4.00 GPA. Olivia Frost (North Baltimore/North Baltimore, Ohio) joined the nine volleyball student-athletes in becoming a two-time all-academic team member, while Jeryn Reese (Mansfield/Mansfield, Ohio) and Sybil Roseboro (Elyria/Elyria, Ohio) also made the team this spring.

Roy Hatchett Jr. (Glenville/Cleveland, Ohio) and Ty'Rese Searles (Cornerstone/Pontiac, Mich.) represented the Owens men's basketball team.

Notes

The total of 15 student-athletes honored is four more than the number of Owens student-athletes who earned a spot on the all-academic team in the fall semester.

National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) academic awards will be announced in the coming days.
