Gose, George Earn OCCAC Player of the Week Honors

Toledo, Ohio---Casey Gose (Genoa/Genoa, Ohio) and Brittany George (Elwmood/Wayne, Ohio) have been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) player of the week recipients in baseball and softball, respectively.

Gose helped the Owens Community College baseball team go 2-2 against Cuyahoga Community College last weekend. With the games behind moved to his alma mater, Genoa High School, due to the weather, Gose went 6-for-12 (.500) from the leadoff spot. He had three runs, three walks, one double and two RBI in four games.

Gose is 32-for-80 (.400) from the plate this year. He has five doubles, 22 runs, 17 RBI, seven walks and six stolen bases for Owens (11-13, 4-8 OCCAC).

The Owens baseball team is on the road taking on Lansing Community College at 2 p.m. today.

George, meanwhile, led Owens to a 3-1 record last weekend in doubleheaders against Macomb Community College and Mott Community College.

At the plate, George went 8-for-16 (.500) with five runs, four doubles, five RBI and three stolen bases.

Owens is 18-12 overall and 2-0 in OCCAC play. George is hitting .404 with 29 runs, 10 doubles, six triples, two home runs, 29 RBI, eight walks and six stolen bases this year.

The Owens softball team has today and tomorrow off before traveling to Sinclair Community College on Friday for a conference doubleheader at 3:30 p.m.

SOFTBALL NOTES

The home doubleheader against Cuyahoga Community College, originally scheduled for April 13, is now rescheduled for April 21. Also, tomorrow's doubleheader at Concordia University JV has been postponed. No makeup date has been announced, but it is expected to be made up.
