Shullick, Iacoangeli Take Home OCCAC Player of the Week Honors

Toledo, OH---Sophomore outfielders Logan Shullick and Melanie Iacoangeli have been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Baseball and Softball Players of the Week, respectively, for the week ending April 7.

Shullick, while helping his team take three of four games from conference opponent Cuyahoga Community College over the weekend, hit .538 (7-for-13) in those four games, while adding five runs, eight RBIs and a double. In the team's final game of the week, Shullick went 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs.

Overall, Shullick hit .500 (9-for-18) with two doubles, nine RBIs, five runs and a walk in six games last week.

Shullick is currently second on the team in hitting at .391. In 69 at bats, he has 13 runs, 27 hits, four doubles, one triple, a team-high 21 RBIs, six walks and three stolen bases.

The Express baseball team is currently 9-16 overall and 4-8 in OCCAC play. They are scheduled for an important four game series at home against Sinclair Community College this weekend.

Meanwhile, Iacoangeli helped the No. 15 Express softball team win three out of four games from conference opponents Lakeland Community College and Sinclair Community College. 

The leftfielder went 8-for-12 (.667) in conference action, while producing six runs, nine stolen bases, three RBIs and two walks. Overall, Iacoangeli was 10-for-16 (.625) with nine stolen bases, seven runs, two walks, three RBIs and a triple during five games last week.

Iacoangeli is currently leading the team in batting average at .466. She also has team-highs in hits (27), total bases (46) and stolen bases (27). She is tied for the team-highs in triples (four) and hits (34). Additionally, after swiping 66 stolen bases last year, she is on the verge of cracking the 100 career stolen base mark. She is currently at 93.

The Express softball team is currently 15-9 overall and 3-1 in OCCAC play. After their postponement today, their next action is scheduled for Sunday on the road at No. 14 Mercyhurst North East Community College.
