Toledo, Ohio---Charlie Sipe (Northrop/Fort Wayne, Ind.), Kyle Bennett (Grove City/Grove City, Ohio) and Lesley Ducat (Evergreen/Lyons, Ohio) earned honors in the first week of Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) player of the week voting.

Sipe, a freshman IF/OF on the Owens Community College baseball team, was named the OCCAC player of the week. He hit 13-for-27 (.481) in five games last week for the Express. In those 27 at bats, he produced eight runs, one double, one triple, three stolen bases and six RBIs. Overall, Sipe is hitting .467 with six RBIs, nine runs and four stolen bases in six games this year.

Sipe's teammate, Bennett was named OCCAC pitcher of the week after tossing a complete game shutout in his first collegiate start. The lefty allowed only four hits while walking none and striking out two in a 5-0 win over the College of Lake County. In addition to that outing, Bennett made a relief appearance later in the week, where he allowed four unearned runs.

Ducat, who is a big reason the Owens Community College softball team has started the season undefeated, was named OCCAC pitcher of the week. She went 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA in 13.2 innings pitched last week, while allowing only three earned runs and two walks while striking out 13 batters. She is 5-0 overall with a 2.27 ERA and 24 strikeouts in five appearances this year.

Sinclair Community College's Cassie Osterfeld was named the player of the week in softball.
