About the 2011 Softball Team:

The 2011 Owens Express Softball team had the best season in the history of the sport at Owens. The team finished as the NJCAA Division II National Runner-Up. Following a school record 33-0 start to the regular season, the Express captured their 10th Ohio Community College Athletic Conference championship.

In the Region XII District G tournament, Allison Hausch ended a classic winner's bracket final with Kalamazoo Valley with a walk-off home run. The two teams squared off again in the District Final, and Michelle Hollister and Bridget Wolfe hit back-to-back home runs to help capture the District Championship.

At the national tournament, the Express lost their first game to No. 1-ranked Louisiana State University-Eunice. But the Express did not quit. After moving to the loser's bracket, Owens would defeat East Central, No.9 South Mountain, and knock off No.2 Kankakee in succession to reach the Division II National Championship game. Owens would face off against LSU-Eunice and fall in the national title game. The appearance in the national title match was the first for any women's team in Owens sports history.

The 2011 team would tie a school record for the most wins (44) and set a record for fewest losses in a season (5). Lindsey Bandeen and Matea Rice were named to the NJCAA Division II All-Tournament Team. Jordan Ratliff was named OCCAC Pitcher of the Year and Alaina Haubert was named the OCCAC Player of the Year. Kristen Roznoski and Haubert were also named to the All-Region XII team.

Six members were also named to the All-OCCAC team. Head coach Duane Lanham was named as the District G Coach of the Year.

Notes:

This is the third induction ceremony for the Owens Athletics Hall of Fame.  So far Owens has inducted eight individuals along with Owens's Men's Basketball National Championship teams. This will be the first year a team from a women's sport is inducted. For information on the Hall of Fame, click here.
