Owens Career: In 2002, he recorded 41 hits and had 23 RBIs.  Bateson also tied for the team lead with 23 runs and compiled a .356 batting average.  His postseason honors included being chosen as the team's Golden Glove Award recipient.

High School: 2001 Elmwood High School graduate, Bloomdale, Ohio, where he was First Team and Second Team All-Suburban Lakes League, as well as First Team All-District and First Team All-Ohio.  Named the team's MVP as a senior, he also was honored as an All-"Blade" selection and holds the Elmwood High School record for batting average (.529).  Bateson also was a member of the basketball and cross country teams.
