Eight Game Win Streak For Express Snapped By Olney Central

Myrtle Beach, SC---The Express won their eighth straight to start the season before falling to Olney Central today.

Owens pounded out 16 hits, while Jordan Basinger (Kalida/Kalida, Ohio) threw a complete game, three-hitter to pick up his second win of the season. He finished the game allowing three hits, four runs (one earned), and seven walks while striking out four.

Offensively, the Express raked the ball as they scored in four different innings, including seven in the third. Five different players had RBIs in that inning.

Ryan Hotmer (Lake/Millbury, Ohio) went 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI, and Joe Sickler (Bowling Green/Bowling Green, Ohio) went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI, while Shane Powell (Gibralter Carlson/Brownstown, Mich.), Nate Miceli (Berea/Berea, Ohio) and Austin Gunn (Delta/Delta, Ohio) each had two hits.

Miceli led the team with three RBI, while four players had two runs scored apiece. All but one player had a hit for the Express.

Owens lost its first game as the bats failed to come alive with only five hits against the NJCAA Division I team.

Jesse Solomon (Wayne/Huber Heights, Ohio) led the Express offensively as he had two hits and scored the only two runs. He finished 2-for-3. Matt Hayes (North/Pickerington, Ohio) and Hotmer had the two hits to score Solomon in the fourth and sixth innings.

Express starter Scott Robinson (Coventry/Coventry, Ohio) took the loss (0-1) after finishing with four innings, five hits, two runs, three walks and four strikeouts.

Tyler Brown-Lewis (Shaker Heights/Shaker Heights, Ohio) relieved Robinson in the fifth, but couldn't get an out before Kelley Wagner (Brownstown/Brownstown, Ind.) finished the game.

Wagner pitched well and finished with three innings, one hit, one run and two strikeouts.
