Prior to Owens: Castilleja was a two-sport athlete at Clay in baseball and wrestling. As a junior, he hit .310 as a first baseman en route to First Team All-City League honors. As a senior, he earned First Team All-City League honors once again, as well as First Team All-District and All-Ohio honors. In a game against Dearborn (MI) Divine Child as a senior, he went 4-for-4 with three home runs, a double and eight RBIs. He was coached at Clay by Garry Isbell.

Personal: Jesse is the son of Jesse and Cynthia Castilleja. He is an associate of science general concentration major at Owens.
