2010-11: Tackett's freshman year was cut short due to injury, but he hit .189 with seven runs, seven hits, two doubles, one home run and eight RBIs in 13 starts and 15 appearances. Defensively, he had 90 putouts and five assists.

Prior to Owens: Tackett came to Owens after a two-sport (baseball, basketball) high school career. As a 6’6” member of the baseball team, Tackett won Most Improved and All-Ohio River Valley Conference his junior year while being named offensive and defensive MVP his senior year. Following his senior year, he won a regional championship with his summer league team, Madison Post 9. As a basketball player, he was All-Ohio River Valley Conference his junior and senior seasons. In addition, he was the Rivertown Tournament MVP, as well as a member of the all-tourney team of the Richmond and Rivertown tournament. He lists his Rivertown MVP award and his walk-off home run to win the regional championship as his greatest personal sports thrills. He played under coach Chris Mattox.

Personal: Travis is the son of Melinda Tackett. He is a pre-business administration major at Owens.
