2012: Elder was second on the team in batting average last season despite only playing most of the second half. He hit .319 with 16 runs, three doubles, one triple, 10 walks and four RBIs. He added 11 stolen bases.

Prior to Owens: After graduating from Edgewood in 2010, Elder went to Olney Central College in Olney, IL. After redshirting his freshman year, he transferred to Owens in January 2012.

At Edgewood, Elder earned First Team All-FAVC honors his sophomore through senior years in football and baseball. As a sophomore in baseball, he earned First Team All-Area (Dayton-Cincinnati). While also playing basketball his final three years at Edgewood, Elder was the team captain as a junior and senior in baseball and the captain of his football team as a senior. He played for coaches Brian Caudill and Ty Smallwood.

Personal: Elder is the son of Traci Harding. He has three siblings, Johnathan, Johnny and Jamie.
