Davis Lands With IPFW Baseball Program

Fort Wayne, IN---Sophomore pitcher Dane Davis has signed with NCAA D-I Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).

The right hander was the No. 1 starter in the Express rotation this past season after being a reliever as a freshman. 

As a sophomore, Davis started 11 games and finished 2-4 with a 3.78 ERA. He tossed 66.2 innings while striking out 41.

His best performance of the year came in his final outing at the Region XII tournament. Despite not getting a decision, Davis threw 126 pitches over eight innings while allowing only three hits, one run and two walks. He struck out five. His effort helped the Express earn a 6-4 win in 10 innings.

As a freshman, Davis led the team in wins with a 5-2 record, while finishing with a 3.21 ERA. In 22 appearances, he threw 33.2 innings - allowing 32 hits and 12 walks. He struck out 23.

Davis is a graduate of Romeo High School in Romeo, Mich. 

Academically, Davis was an All-OCCAC Academic Team selection and a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Exemplary Academic Achievement award recipient. He earned a 3.78 cumulative GPA.

Notes

The IPFW Mastodons finished 22-32 overall last year, including a 9-21 record in the Summit League. They are coached by Bobby Pierce, who likes to bring in junior college players. Last year's roster featured 12 players who previously played at two-year schools.
