Toledo, Ohio---Zach Honsberger, an outfielder from Perrysburg High School in Perrysburg, Ohio, has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Owens Community College next year.

"Zach is a very athletic player who uses his speed and athleticism to put pressure on the opposing teams," said Owens baseball head coach John Parisho. "He also comes from a very good baseball program in Perrysburg. I feel it's important to bring guys in like Zach that will fit our athletic style of play. I'm excited to get him into the mix."

Honsberger has earned Second Team and Third Team All-Northern Lakes League (NLL) and All-District honors during his time at Perrysburg under the direction of head coach Dave Hall.

Academically, Honsberger is an honor roll student, and he has also seen some time at pitcher while with Perrysburg.

Honsberger becomes the fifth member of the 2016-17 recruiting class for the Owens baseball porgram. He joins Jared Pingitore (C/IF) from Airport High School in Carleton, Mich.; Tanner Glass (IF) from Bedford High School in Temperance, Mich., Adrian Reed (IF) from Livonia Franklin High School in Livonia, Mich. and Josh Green (RHP/IF) from Flat Rock Community in Flat Rock, Mich.

The Owens baseball team finished 23-25 last year, but captured the Sub-Region XII tournament championship and finished third in the Region XII tournament, which marked the best postseason finish for the program since 2007. This year's team will open its regular season this weekend in Florida.
