Toledo, Ohio---Ty Suntken (Wauseon/Wauseon, Ohio), a redshirt freshman infielder for the Owens Community College baseball team, will play at NCAA Division I Bowling Green State University next year.

Suntken, who transferred to Owens from NCAA Division I Ohio University this past year, led the team in hitting during conference play at .438 (21-for-48). Overall, he finished second on the team in hitting at .379 (47-for-124) with 37 runs, eight doubles, two triples, two home runs, 34 RBI, 23 walks and 12 stolen bases. He got on base at a .488 clip, as well.

Following the season, Suntken was named All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) and First Team All-Region XII. He saw most of his action in the middle infield, although he struck out 16 over 12 innings on the mound, too. Additionally, he posted 11 multi-hit games and had at least one hit in the final 12 games of the season in which he started.

Prior to college, Suntken was a First Team All-Northwest Ohio Athletic League (NWOAL), NWOAL Player of the Year, First Team All-District, First Team All-Ohio and the Division IV Player of the Year recipient at Wauseon High School.

Suntken now joins his teammate, Casey Gose (Genoa/Genoa, Ohio), as one of two NCAA Division I Mid-American Conference players from last year's team. Gose recently signed on at the University of Toledo. In addition to those two, Michael Finch (Norwalk/Norwalk, Ohio) signed with NCAA Division II Wheeling Jesuit University, while Zach Bobbitt (Oldham County/Oldham County, Ky.) signed with NAIA Cincinnati Christian University. More signing stories are expected to be posted at OwensExpress.com within the coming weeks.

The Owens baseball team finished 30-15 overall last year and 11-5 in OCCAC play. They finished second in conference play during the regular season and advanced to the Sub-Region XII tournament before their season ended.
