Prior to his one year at Owens, Hotchkiss was an All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selection at Bedford High School.

The Owens baseball team finished 30-15 overall last year and 11-5 in OCCAC play. The college announced the suspension of the program beginning with the 2016-17 season due to fiscal reasons.
