Title: Head Men's Basketball Coach

Cot Marquette begins his first season as head men's basketball coach of the Penta Tech Jaguars.

He was an outstanding high school and college player before entering coaching. He gradated from Cygnet High School in 1949, where he received honorable mention All-Ohio his senior year. He was a first team member of the Mid-Ohio all-star team for four years while playing at Findlay College from 1952-55. He was a second-team All-Ohio choice in 1952 and a first-team All-Ohio player in 1953. His college coach was Don Renninger, now athletic director at Findlay College. Before entering college, Marquette was a catcher in the Cleveland Indians farm system for two years.

Marquette and his wife, Marian, have four children, Teresa (12), Greg (10), Susie (7) and Jim (4).

Mr. Marquette has an undergraduate degree from Findlay College and his masters degree from Bowling Green State University. Marquette, who has piloted eight league championship teams in 11 years of coaching, moves into the Penta Tech position after a successful five-year stint at Rossford High School. In the five years, Marquette guided the Rossford basketball program, the Bulldogs won a total of 91 games and lost only 13, for a winning percentage of a fantastic .875. The Bulldogs won teh Northern Lakes League championship outright in 1963, 1964, and 1966, and tied for the title in 1962 and 1965. This past season, the Bulldogs won their fifth straight NLL title, racked up 18 straight victories during the regular season and posted 26 consecutive triumphs before losing to Dixie in the finals of the Class A state tournament. In addition to the fine record at Rossford, marquette also led Miller City to three straight Putnam County League championships. His three-year record at Miller City was 58 wins and only nine losses.

Marquette's 11-year head coaching record stands at 164 victories and 64 defeats. His only losing records in coaching were compiled in a three-year period at Fremont Ross, where his teams won 15 and lost 42.
