Title: Head Men's Basketball Coach

Cot Marquette is in his second year as head basketball coach and athletic director at Penta Technical College, and after a very successful inaugural year, is looking forward to better things from the Jaguars.

Last season's squad, Coach Marquette's first adventure in the college ranks, posted a fine 15-7 record, and the Jaguars face a rugged 25-game schedule. Coach Marquette also was instrumental in the formation of the Turnpike Conference, of which Penta Tech is a charter member.

Coach Marquette was an outstanding high school and college player, having graduated from Cygnet High School in 1949, where he received honorable mention All-Ohio his senior year. He was a first-team member of the Mid-Ohio all-star team four years while playing at Findlay College, from 1952-55. He was a second team All-Ohio choice in 1952 and a first team All-Ohio player in 1953.

Before entering college, Marquette was a catcher in the Cleveland Indians farm system for two years.

After receiving his undergraduate degree from Findlay College, Coach Marquette received his master's degree from Bowling Green State University.

In high school coaching, eight of Marquette's 11 teams won league championships. in five years at Rossford High School, the Bulldogs won 91 games and lost only 13, while winning league crowns outright three years and tying for the title twice. 

His last year in the high school ranks was ultra-successful, with the Bulldogs posting 26 consecutive victories before losing in the finals of the Class A state tournament.

Prior to taking the Rossford post, he spent three years at Fremont Ross, where he went through his only losing seasons as a coach, winning 15 and losing 42. Prior to that, Coach Marquette spent three years at Miller City, where his teams won 58 and lost only nine, and won three straight Putnam County League championships.

Coach Marquette and his wife, Marian, have four children, Teresa (13), Greg (11), Susie (8) and Jim (5).
