D.J. Cameron enters his second season as Owens Tech head basketball coach. During his first year at the helm, Cameron guided the Owens cagers to a 9-15 record, but finished the season winning five out of their last seven games to set the tone for what Owens Tech fans hope will continue in the future.

Along with their strong finish, Cameron's 83-84 cagers improved both academically, earning a 2.65 team overall average, and in most every offensive and defensive category. They were improved in field goal percentage shooting 51.8 percent from the field as a team overall and 52.2 percent in the Ohio Junior College Conference. The team also increased in free-throw percentage shooting at 72.8 percent, which ranked 7th nationally overall and 79.8 percent in conference action.

Cameron, considered by many top Division I coaches as one of the upcoming young coaches in America, is an excellent teacher of the fundamentals of the game. Stressing conditioning, fundamentals, discipline, dedication, solid and aggressive defense, as well as a controlled style of play. Cameron's teams have been given a reputation as being well prepared and "fun and exciting" to watch.

Cameron is a native of South Bound Brook, New Jersey. He is a 1981 graduate of Mount Union College, with a B.A. degree in Physical Education/Coaching and a 1983 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a M.Ed. in Athletic Administration.
