2002-03: Tate played one season with Owens before transferring to his hometown Columbus State Community College men's basketball team. In his freshman year at Owens, Tate finished third on the team in scoring at 10.9 points per game, while adding a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game, as well. He totaled 370 points, 229 rebounds, 51 assists, 17 blocks and 39 steals.

High School: Columbus East High School attendee, where he earned Second Team All-City honors.
