Toledo, OH---On Monday, the Express once again got strong performances from Justin Edmonds (Albion/Albion, Mich.) and Jerron Jamerson (Washington/South Bend, Ind.) to power past the Siena Heights University JV 91-77 in the SHAC to push the team's winning streak to five.

Edmonds led the Express in scoring with 28 points, while also adding six rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks. The freshman has led the team in scoring in every game this season as he scored 20 plus points for the fourth time this year. Meanwhile, Jamerson had his best game of the year while pouring in 18 points with five rebounds, four assists and a team best three steals. The sophomore had a strong second half that included 14 of his 18 points.

In the first half, the game was back and forth, featuring four ties and 11 lead changes. Siena Heights shot the ball well as they finished 14-for-29 (48.3%), while the Express only shot 16-for-44 (36.4%) in the half. The Express, nonetheless, held a 38-34 advantage at the half.

Then, with 12:08 remaining in the second half, the Express had a ten point lead. However, Siena Heights went on a 10-0 run over the next 2:02 to force the game's seventh tie. Owens head coach Dave Clarke then called a timeout, and his team responded with a 10-0 run of their own over the next 2:27 to seize control.

In the second half, the field goal percentages swung back in favor of Owens as the Express got to the paint more, resulting in a 32-12 second half advantage in points in the paint. In that second half, Owens shot 19-for-41 (46.3%), while Siena Heights finished 16-for-39 (41%). For the game, Owens shot 35-for-85 (41.2%), while Siena Heights shot 30-for-68 (44.1%).

The Express also turned up the defensive pressure in the second half while outscoring Siena Heights 53-43. For the game, Siena Heights had ten more turnovers (22-12) than the Express, while Owens held a 10-5 advantage in steals.

James Kelly (Pioneer/Ann Arbor, Mich.) also scored in double figures for Owens with 12, while pulling down seven rebounds and blocking three shots. Jay Marquette (Central Catholic/Rossford, Ohio) chipped in nine points, eight rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal, while Jeremy Weemes (Springfield/Holland, Ohio) and Jeff Burroughs (Belleville/Ypsilanti, Mich.) each had eight points. Burroughs also recorded a team-high seven assists, while Kelly's block total was a team-high.

Siena Heights, who was led by 22 points from Eric Cogan, 17 points from Jake Zureich and 10 points from Rick Jones, had defeated the Express last season in the SHAC, so the game was a measure of revenge for Owens.

The Express (5-0) will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., this Friday to take on Grand Rapids Community College at 7 p.m. Should the Express win, it will set up a showdown in the SHAC next Monday against No. 1-ranked Mott Community College, the place where Clarke coached the last two seasons.
