Burroughs' 24 Points Leads Express Over OSU Club

Toledo, OH---Jeff Burroughs (Belleville/Ypsilanti, Mich.) scored 24 points in 24 minutes to lead the Express to an 86-44 win over Ohio State University's club team tonight.

Burroughs hit four 3-pointers early in the first half en route to 19 in the half. He finished 8-for-13 from the field overall, 4-for-6 from 3-point range, and 4-for-5 from the foul line. He totaled six rebounds and one steal in addition to his point total.

In the second half, the Express held OSU without a field goal or points until the 14:43 mark. During that time, Owens went on a 21-0 run to stretch a 41-29 halftime lead to a 33 point lead.

Justin Edmonds (Albion/Albion, Mich.) was second in scoring with 13 points, while adding three rebounds, one assist and two steals. James Kelly (Pioneer/Ann Arbor, MI) was limited n the first half due to foul trouble, but still finished with 11 points, three blocks and three steals in 15 minutes.

The Express had two balanced halves offensively as they went 13-for-28 overall from the field in the first half and 13-for-27 in the second half to finish 26-for-55 (47.3 percent) overall. They hit 10-for-29 from 3-point range and 24-for-31 from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Ohio State shot 17-for-52 overall from the field, 7-for-26 from 3-point range and 3-for-12 from the foul line.

The Express out-rebounded OSU 40 to 29, while also holding advantages in assists (16 to 11), turnovers (13 to 25), blocks (7 to 0), steals (16 to 7), paint points (24 to 18), points off turnovers (38 to 6), second chance points (15 to 11) and bench points (33 to 24).

Owens (14-5, 1-0 OCCAC) will take on Sinclair Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday in Dayton, Ohio.
