Kelly Named OCCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Toledo, OH---James Kelly has been named Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) men's basketball player of the week for the second time this season.

He captured OCCAC player of the week and NJCAA player of the week honors for the week ending Jan. 20.

Kelly picked up two more double-doubles in two conference wins over Edison Community College and Columbus State Community College.

In an 82-73 road win over Edison, Kelly finished with 22 points, 14 rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assist. He finished 9-for-15 from the field and 4-for-6 from the foul line.

Then, in an 80-65 home victory over Columbus State, Kelly posted 18 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. He finished 8-for-19 from the field and 2-for-3 from the foul line.

In all, he posted 40 points, 25 rebounds, six steals, four blocks and one assist in two wins for the Express, who are now 16-7 overall and 5-1 in the OCCAC. Kelly has posted a double-double in every conference game this season and totaled 13 double-double's overall this year.

Kelly is the conference's second leading scorer (23.7 ppg) and second leading rebounder (12.2 rpg). Additionally, he leads the OCCAC with three steals per game and is third in blocks per game at 1.5/game. Furthermore, at 4.8/game, he tops the conference in offensive rebounding.

The Express will begin their second half of conference play on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. home matchup against Cuyahoga Community College. The game will feature the conference's top two scorers, Kelly and Josh Reagan, and two of the conference's top three rebounders (Kelly and Reagan).

In an earlier matchup against Cuyahoga, Kelly got the best of Reagan (33 pts) with a triple-double (33 points, 12 rebounds, 10 steals).
