Kelly Takes Home Third OCCAC Player of the Week Award

Toledo, OH---James Kelly has been named the OCCAC Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 10.

It marks his second consecutive player of the week award and third overall this year.

In a 74-40 win over Cuyahoga Community College on Feb. 6, Kelly had 12 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal. Then, he followed that up with 30 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a 98-73 win over Sinclair Community College. 

In his two games, Kelly totaled 42 points, 23 rebounds, four blocks, three steals and one assist for two-game averages of 21 points, 11.5 rebounds, two blocks, 1.5 steals and 0.5 assists per game.

Kelly surpassed the 1,000 career point milestone in the Express win over Sinclair, as well. He now has 1,023 points for his career, while he also nears the program's career records for rebounds and blocks.

Kelly has now recorded a double-double in all eight of his team's OCCAC games this year. In those eight games, he is averaging 23 points, 12 rebounds, 2.6 steals, 1.6 blocks and 1.1 assists.

Kelly and the Express will travel to Lakeland Community College on Feb. 13 before hosting Cincinnati State Technical and Community College on Feb. 16. The Express are currently 18-7 overall and 7-1 in OCCAC play. Their game against Lakeland (8-0 OCCAC) will play a major role in this year's OCCAC championship.
