Kelly's Dunk Featured On ESPN Sportscenter's Top 10 Plays of the Day

Toledo, OH---James Kelly, a sophomore forward from Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, MI, had a recent dunk against Cuyahoga Community College featured on ESPN's Sportscenter March 6-7.

The dunk, from the 74-40 win over Cuyahoga on Feb. 6, picked up the attention of an ESPN producer on March 6 thanks to a tweet of the dunk. It features Express point guard Joe Retic II bringing the ball up court and throwing it off the backboard in traffic to Kelly, who threw it down one handed.

The play was waved off due to a charge call on Retic, but as ESPN's Stuart Scott said, "It was called an offensive foul, but we don't care."

It became the #10 play on the list of top 10 plays on the 11:30 p.m. edition of Sportscenter and subsequent reairings.

Kelly is a highly sought after NCAA D-I recruit. He is averaging 18.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game this year. He is one block away from becoming the first player in Express men's basketball history to record at least 1,000 career points, 600 career rebounds, 100 career blocks and 100 career steals.

He leads the team in all four categories this year (561 points, 308 rebounds, 42 blocks and 48 steals.

Retic, a freshman from Fishers HS in Fishers, Ind, is another NCAA D-I recruit who has a team-high 151 assists this year. He posted a triple-double (13 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists and three steals) in the team's most recent game.

The Express (22-8 overall, 10-2 OCCAC) will open district tournament action in the semifinals on Friday at 6 p.m. against Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. The tournament is being held at Cincinnati State.
