Toledo, Ohio---Rakim Lesane and the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team came back from a 13-point halftime deficit to take down No. 16 Owens Community College 90-86 in the Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) tonight.

Owens started the game strong by scoring the game's first five points and leading by as many as 15 on two occasions in the half. They never trailed, led 46-33, and a large reason why was the play of Ty'Rese Searles (Cornerstone/Pontiac, Mich.), who had 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting in the first 20 minutes.

In the first half, Owens held Jamestown to 10-for-33 (30.3 percent) shooting, while shooting 18-for-35 (51.4 percent) on the offensive end.

In the second half, however, Lesane broke loose for all 25 of his points. He scored five during his team's 12-0 run to open the half. Owens responded with a 5-0 run, capped by Derrik Jamerson Jr.'s (Cornerstone/Pontiac, Mich.) 3-point play with 16:21 remaining.

Moments later, Lesane hit a jumper to give his team a 52-51 lead. Once again, though. Owens answered as Searles produced five points and Dae'Shawn Jackson (Springfield/Springfield, Ohio) hit a 3-pointer to give Owens a 59-52 lead with 13:03 left.

With 8:31 remaining, Jamerson Jr. drained a 3-pointer to stretch the Owens lead to 69-61, but Jamestown started to controll it from there.

Lesane hit a pair of free throws to start a 6-0 run for his team, and he scored eight straight points a little later to give his team a 75-74 lead with 5:20 left. He hit another layup to cap a 13-1 run and give Jamestown an 82-75 lead with 3:43 left.

Owens was able to get as close as two after a 3-point play by Jamerson Jr. with 1:51 left, but Brandon Kemp hit the second of two free throws with three seconds left to seal the game as Owens missed a long 3-pointer at the buzzer.

After struggling offensively in the first half, Jamestown shot 20-for-41 (48.8 percent) in the second half and made 15-for-17 from the foul line. Meanwhile, Owens shot just 12-for-40 (30 percent) in the final 20 minutes, including a 4-for-16 performance from 3-point range.

Lesane's 25 points was a game-high, while three of his teammates added double figure scoring including Kyle Taylor-Mcleggan (14), Samuel Joseph (12) and Bush (12). Kemp added nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

For Owens, Searles produced a team-high 24 points on 9-for-13 shooting, including a 5-for-5 finish from the foul line. He added team-highs in rebounds (9) and assists (3), and he also had two steals.

Jamerson Jr., who played only five minutes in the first half due to foul trouble, added 16 points, four rebounds and a steal. Charles Penn III (Macomb Dakota/Detroit, Mich.) had 11 points and four rebounds.

Jackson and Tony Stallworth (Chandler Park Academy/Detroit, Mich.) each had eight points off the bench.

Owens is now 1-2 overall, although both of their losses have been by a combined eight points. Jamestown improves to 4-0 this year.

Owens will take on Wayne County Community College tomorrow at 3 p.m., while Jamestown will take on South Suburban at 1 p.m. The games this weekend are part of the Owens Tip Off Classic.
