Muskegon, Mich.---The Owens Community College men's basketball team had five players score in double figures in a 101-80 road win over Muskegon Community College tonight.

With the win, Owens snapped a three game losing streak and improved to 7-9 overall this year. On the flip side, Muskegon fell to 10-2 overall and had a nine game winning streak snapped.

Muskegon led for most of the game's first two minutes, but a Ty'Rese Searles (Cornerstone/Pontiac, Mich.) jumper spurred a 12-2 Owens run that was capped by a pair of Derrik Jamerson Jr. (Cornerstone/Pontiac, Mich.) 3-pointers with 14:51 left.

Moments later, Tariq Scott (R.J. Reynolds/Winston Salem, N.C.) scored five straight points, and then Searles buried a triple to give Owens a 29-13 lead with 11:46 left.

Muskegon started chipping away at their deficit following that. Brian Walker (Huron/Ypsilanti, Mich.) nailed a jumper to give Owens a 37-26 lead with 7:45 left, but the home team responded by scoring the next nine points over the next 2:17 to pull within two.

Dilyn Good (Springfield/Holland, Ohio), who had 18 points in the game, ended the run with a layup off an assist from Dae'Shawn Jackson (Springfield/Springfield, Ohio).

With 3:33 left in the half, Jamerson Jr. hit another triple try to spur an 11-5 Owens run and head into the half up 50-42.

Muskegon scored the first six points of the second half to pull within two, but it was pretty much all Owens the rest of the way.

Jackson responded with a pair of triples at the front and back end of a 10-2 Owens run over the next two minutes. Muskegon's Blake Andrews would hit back-to-back 3-pointers, but Jamerson Jr. hit another 3-pointer, followed by a layup from Charles Penn III (Macomb Dakota/Detroit, Mich.) as Owens led 65-56 with 14:48 left.

Owens then firmly took control of the game with a 15-1 run over a nearly four minute stretch that concluded midway through the half with a layup and a dunk from Xavier Cochran (Huron/Ypsilanti, Mich.). During the run, Cochran had six points, while Good added five.

Down the stretch, Owens led by as many as 22 on three occasions following the 15-1 run, while Muskegon never got closer than 16.

Jamerson Jr. led Owens with 19 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. Good added 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal. Cochran, who scored 10 points in the second half, added 14 points, three assists and two rebounds.

Penn III chipped in 12 points, six rebounds and a team-high four blocks off the bench, and Searles totaled 11 points and seven assists. Jackson tied Searles for the team-high in assists, while also contributing eight points.

Marcus Tumblin led Muskegon with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Terrance Cosby added 11 points and 17 rebounds (11 offensive).

Owens will be back in action next Wednesday at Lorain County Community College beginning at 7:30 p.m.
