Cochran, Jamerson Land On All-OCCAC Men's Basketball Team

Toledo, Ohio--- Owens Community College men's basketball student-athletes Xavier Cochran (Huron/Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Derrik Jamerson Jr. (Cornerstone/Pontiac, Mich.) have both been named to the All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) team.

Cochran, a freshman guard, earned First Team All-OCCAC recognition after averaging a team-high 17.4 points per contest in conference play. He also contributed 6.7 rebounds, two assists and 1.8 steals per game.

Overall, Cochran averaged 16 points, six rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game in 30 contests. He shot 151-for-322 (46.9 percent) overall from the field, 32-for-104 (30.8 percent) from 3-point range and 145-for-204 (71.1 percent) from the foul line.

Cochran, who scored in double figures in all but five games, picked up five double-doubles this year.

Jamerson Jr., a freshman guard, earned Second Team All-OCCAC recognition after averaging 14.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in conference play. In OCCAC play. He shot 66-for-167 (39.5 percent) overall, 50-for-122 (41 percent) from 3-point range and 18-for-19 (94.7 percent) from the foul line in conference play.

Overall, Jamerson Jr. averaged 14.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and one steal over 31 contests. He shot 152-for-352 (43.2 percent) overall, 103-for-249 (41.4 percent) from 3-point range and 34-for-37 (91.9 percent) from the foul line.

Jamerson Jr. produced six double-doubles on the season.

The duo, who finished 1-2 in scoring for the team, helped lead the Owens Community College men's basketball team to an 18-13 overall record, a fourth place finish in the OCCAC and a Region XII District 11 quarterfinal appearance.
