Toledo, Ohio---The Owens Community College men's basketball team will host Team Toledo this Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC).

The scrimmage will mark the third consecutive year in which the teams have met. Team Toledo consists primarily of former Toledo-area basketball stars.

Some of the players scheduled to compete for Team Toledo include current Bowling Green High School boys basketball head coach and former BGSU men's basketball standout Erik Marschall; former Libbey star Julius Wells and former Central Catholic star Chris Commons. Wells went on to play at James Madison University, Pierce played at Notre Dame College and Commons played at USC Aiken. Furthermore, E.J. Blackwell, who played at Genesee Community College and the Community College of Beaver County before transferring to play at Lourdes University, is scheduled to compete in the game.

In addition to those players, several former Owens standouts are expected to play. A pair of brothers from Loy Norrix High School in Kalamazoo, Mich., Larry and Julian Logan, are among the group, along with Johnny Willhite, who played at Loy Norrix, then Owens, and then Lourdes University. Larry went on to play at NCAA Division I Centenary University, while Julian played at NCAA Division II California University of Pennsylvania. Ronnell Isom, who played at Libbey and then at Owens in the mid-2000s, is another player. In addition, the two most recent Owens players on the list scheduled to compete are Justin Edmonds and Joe Retic II, both who played at Owens through the 2012-13 season and went on to play NCAA Division I basketball at Marshall University and Liberty University, respectively.

Tickets for the event will be $5 and can be purchased at the door. 

Notes

This year's Owens men's basketball team will begin regular season play on Nov. 1 at Mercyhurst North East Community College. Local players on this year's roster include Mason Durden (Whitmer/Toledo, Ohio), Marquevious Wilson (Lima Senior/Lima, Ohio), Derek Reece Jr. (Springfield/Toledo, Ohio), Rico Stafford (Lima Senior/Lima, Ohio) and James Grays (Start/Toledo, Ohio).
