Toledo, Ohio---Roy Hatchett Jr. (Glenville/Cleveland, Ohio) buried a 3-pointer from the left wing with 26 seconds left to give the Owens Community College men's basketball team a 100-99 win over No. 9 Lansing Community College on Tuesday.

With the win, Owens (4-3) snapped a three-game losing streak, and they will be back in action next Wednesday against No. 6 Schoolcraft College at 7:30 p.m. Lansing, who entered the game averaging 113 points over five wins, fell to 5-1 with the loss.

Jaylen Tucker (Northland/Columbus, Ohio), who scored 21 first-half points for Owens, scored the game's opening bucket as Owens jumped out to a 9-3 lead. A little later, Derrik Jamerson Jr. (Cornerstone/Pontiac, Mich.) converted his second 3-pointer of the game to give Owens a 16-10 lead with 14:54 left.

Lansing responded with a 9-0 run over the next two minutes that was capped by a dunk from JaQuaries Furlow to seize its second lead of the game. Over the next four minutes, Owens chipped away at the deficit before a pair of free throws from Tucker gave Owens a 24-23 lead.

Over the next few minutes, the game featured three ties, and then Owens went on a 7-0 run that featured a pair of buckets from Tucker and another 3-pointer from Jamerson to take a 38-31 lead with 6:18 left in the half. Luke Mayer (Davidson/Hilliard, Ohio) put back his own miss to give Owens a nine point lead, its largest of the game, with just under five minutes left.

Lansing's quick strike offense scored the game's next 10 points. The run was capped by back-to-back 3-pointers from Claude Finley and Kenneth Davis. Shondell Jackson (Warren Harding/Warren, Ohio) and Jamerson ended the run with a pair of 3-pointers to give Owens a 50-45 lead with 2:19 left in the half.

The lead became six following a jumper from Ty'Rese Searles (Cornerstone/Pontiac, Mich.) before Tucker capped the half's scoring with a steal, a fast break dunk and a free throw as Owens took a 57-50 lead into the break.

In the first half, Lansing held an 11-5 advantage in points off turnovers and an 11-4 advantage in second chance points. On the other side, outside of Tucker's 21 points, Jamerson chippped in 12, while Jackson had 10 as Owens shot 21-for-31 (67.7 percent) from the field in the half.

The first three minutes of the second half featured a 14-0 run by Lansing as they turned a seven-point deficit into a seven-point advantage. Jackson ended the run with a layup, and he followed it up with a 3-pointer, but Lansing righted the ship and eventually pushed its lead up to 11 with 14:54 left following a jumper from JaMyrin Jackson.

The rally killer, Jackson, ended Lansing's run with a 3-pointer and kickstarted a 13-3 run that trimmed the deficit to just one. The spurt was capped by an 8-0 run over a 35 second span that featured a pair of free throws and a layup from Rico Stafford (Lima Senior/Lima, Ohio), a dunk from Jackson and a layup from Searles.

Lansing would retain its lead, though, and eventually pushed its lead to seven on two occasions, with the second coming at 97-90 with 2:54 left. A 3-pointer from Jamerson, followed by a fast break dunk and a layup from Stafford tied things up with 1:01 left.

Jackson hit a pair of free throws on the other end for Lansing, but that's when Hatchett buried his 3-pointer off a pass out of the post from Tucker. Lansing's offense came up empty on the ensuring possession, but Stafford missed the front end of a 1-and-1 to give Lansing another chance.

Jackson was fouled driving to the hoop, but he also missed the front end of a 1-and-1 with four seconds left. For Owens, Jackson was fouled following the rebound, but he missed the front end of another 1-and-1 opportunity, which gave Lansing one final chance with 0.6 seconds left. Tucker, however, broke up a full court pass as time expired to give Owens the win.

In the second half, the Owens bench outscored Lansing 16-0. As a team, they shot 17-for-31 (54.8 percent) from the field to finish 38-for-62 (61.3 percent) for the game. Among those totals was an 11-for-20 (55 percent) finish from 3-point range.

Tucker finished with a game-high 29 points, along with a team-high 10 rebounds, while also adding four assists, two blocks and two steals. He finished 12-for-19 from the field and 5-for-6 from the foul line.
