Express Dominate Again, Win by 24

For the second game, the Owens Men's Basketball team jumped out to a double digit lead in the first half and pushed the lead further as they defeated Edison 101-77 on Wednesday evening. The team had four starters in double figures and added a fifth off the bench in their 24 point victory.

Owens was paced in scoring by Marquevious Wilson, who finished with 18 points on 5-8 shooting and a scorching 4-7 from three. The Lima native also finished with a team high five assists in the ballgame. Gabe Simpson ended the game with 16 points on 6-9 shooting and he also finished with four steals. 

The Express three post players were a force on the scoresheet as well. Justin Sylver, in his third game this season, had his best outing of the season. Sylver finished with 15 points and a team high 11 rebounds on the evening off the bench in 23 minutes played. It was his first double-double of the year. 

Rylan Davis and Julian Egbo had 12 points and 11 points respectively against the Chargers. Egbo also finished with five rebounds while Davis led the team in blocked shots with two.

The Express finished the game shooting nearly 60%, going 36-63 from the floor which is good for 57.1%. They were also solid from the charity stripe as well. The team shot 82% from the free throw line, which aided in the victory.

Owens is now 9-7 overall for the season and sit fourth in the OCCAC standings at 3-2. They return home, for the first time since December 2nd, this Saturday at 3:00 PM against Columbus State. The Cougars are currently in third place in the league standings at 4-2,which is a half game in front of the Express. Columbus State is 10-5 overall for the season.
