Express Sign Six for 2018-19

Toledo, OH -- Since taking the reigns of the Owens Men's Basketball program, new head coach Bruce Johnson has been busy reshaping the roster for the upcoming season. On June 30, the Express signed six new players who will be set to participate during the 2018-19 basketball season.

 

 Cinque Harris, Kingston Prep - Harris is a 6'3 shooting guard, who played last season at Kingston Prep in Central Ohio. He played his high school basketball at Rennassiance High School in Detroit. 

 

 Jordan Grayson, McKeesport High School - Grayson hails from the Keystone State where he played at McKeesport High School. The 6'5 small forward averaged 11.8 points per game along with 2.9 assists and 2.8 rebounds a contest as well. 

 

   Raekwon Whitfield, Lakewood High School - Whitfield is a 6'5 small forward from Lakewood High School in Cleveland, OH. He helped lead the Rangers to a Southwest Conference title this past season, and he was an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection during his high school career.

 

 Kevin Kirby, Mountainview High School - Kirby will be the furthest traveled recruit when he arrives on campus. The 5'9 point guard played his high school ball at Mountain View High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

 

 Sharif Saleem, Euclid High School/UMass - Salim will move from the gridiron to the hardwood. He attended UMass briefly after signing to play football for the Minutemen. He graduated from Euclid High School and he is a 6'7 combo forward and center. 

 

 Shakir Doss, Combine Academy -  Doss comes to the Express from Combine Academy in Cleveland Heights, OH. He is a 6'3 shooting guard.  

These six will be members of an Owens squad that was 23-6 a year ago at the Division II level of the NJCAA. This year, all Owens Athletic programs will play at the Division III level.
