Youthful Express Struggle Against Mott

Toledo, OH -- With a move to Division III, the Owens Men's basketball team is trying to break in an entirely new roster this season. The process has not come without its growing pains.

For the second straight game, the Express found themselves down double digits at the break and found themselves on the wrong end of a 92-42 score against a very good Mott Bears team.

Owens shot just 25% from the field and committed 17 turnovers in the game against Mott.

Ka'Von Gainer was the leading scorer for the Express with 14 points and he was 7-8 from the free throw line. He also finished with six rebounds and three assists. Freshman Aamir Solomon had nine points o the evening on 4-9 shooting from the floor. He, too, had six rebounds to his credit during the game against Mott. Demetric Knight finished with five rebounds for the Express.

Owens now falls to 0-2 overall of the season. They will be in action again this Saturday afternoon at 2 PM at the SHAC. They will take on the Wilberforce College JV squad.
