Toledo, OH -- On a night where Jaelin Ferrell needed 29 points to reach 1,000 points scored in his college career, the sophomore dropped 36 in a 105-83 win over Lorain on Wednesday night. His three pointer with 3:22 to play in the game put Ferrell officially at 1,001 points for his career. He added six more points for good measure.

Owens would actually get off to a slow start offensively, missing 14 of their first 16 shots in the contest. The Express would trail for a good portion of the first half, trailing by as many as five points. A dunk by King Goss with 4:34 left in the first half would put the Express up two points, and they would never trail the rest of the contest.

Owens would eventually work their way to an eight point lead at halftime at 48-40. The Express would outscore Lorain 19-11 over the last four and half minutes of the game's opening frame. Reggie Robinson would hit a layup before time expired to give Owens momentum into the locker room.

Lorain would cut that lead to just four out the locker room, before Ferrell hit a three at the 17:42 mark of the second half to push the lead back to seven. Owens would go on a 21-9 run over the next six minutes to take a 19 point lead at 71-52.

Owens would end up outscoring the Commodores 57-43 in the second half of the contest, to secure the 22 point victory.

As mentioned, Jaelin Ferrell would score 36 points on 11-20 shooting from the field. He was 9-18 from beyond the arc in the game as well. He also finished with six rebounds. The Louisville, KY native has now scored 1,007 points in his college career between Oakton Community College and Owens.

Fellow sophomore, Anthony Mills, would finish just three assists shy of a triple-double. Mills would score 15 points, grab 14 rebounds. which was a team high, and have seven assists in the game. Another sophomore, Reggie Robinson score 18 points, shooting a perfect 8-8 from the floor.

King Goss would add 14 points off the bench along with four steals, and Ricky Williams would have 10 points on 4-6 shooting.

As a team, Owens would shoot 50.6% (40-79) from the floor for the game and 41.5% (17-41) from beyond the arc. Lorain shot 35.4% (23-65) from the field in the game. They had four players score in double figures, led by Jaylon Jenkins with 24 points. Owens also led the Commodores in fast break points at 20-2.

Owens finishes the regular season at 15-14 overall and 6-5 in the OCCAC. That is an eight win improvement over last season's record of 7-23. Lorain falls to 3-23 overall and the Commodores are winless in the OCCAC at 0-11.

The Express will next play in the Region XII Tournament in Circleville, OH this weekend. Owens, who will be the #2 seed, will play Hocking on Saturday from Ohio Christian University. The game against the Hawks is scheduled to tip off at 4 PM. Should Owens advance, they will play the winner of Columbus State/Lorain in the championship game at 4 PM on Sunday.
