Travis Lewis spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Owens men's basketball program. He was an assistant coaching during the 2010-11 season, became interim head coach in the spring of 2011 after the departure of head coach Kevin Skaggs and then served one more season as an assistant coach under head coach Dave Clarke before departing the program to become the head boys basketball coach at St. Francis De Sales High School in Toledo, Ohio.

A former graduate assistant coach in basketball at Eastern Michigan University, Lewis was a two-sport athlete in basketball and football for the Eagles from 2003-2008. He earned three letters in basketball as a shooting guard, and he lettered four seasons in football as a standout wide receiver. As a senior, Lewis finished second in voting for the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year award in basketball. Lewis briefly played professional football in the Arena Football League and professional basketball in China.

Lewis earned a bachelor's degree in comprehensive theater art and secondary education and a master's degree in sport management from Eastern Michigan. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of Athletics at Owens, and he previously served as a social studies teacher at North Pointe Academy in Toledo, Ohio.

Lewis is married to former Owens women's basketball assistant coach, Jessica Lewis. At the time of his departure, they had one son, Travis Lewis Jr.
