Gilbert Guerrero begins his first season as assistant coach of the Owens golf program.  Gil, life-long resident of Toledo, Ohio, is a graduate of Waite High School and Syracuse University and received his master's degree from Bowling Green State University.  He is currently a special education teacher at Start High School where he has coached the boy's golf team for 20 years and coached the boy's basketball team for eight years.

Gil has been the teaching golf professional at Detwiler Golf Course in Toledo for the past three years.  He previously served as the golf pro at Ottawa Park from 1981 to 1985.  He also has served on the board for the Junior Golf Association for nine years.
