Owens Career: Schmidlin earned All-Academic honors in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference his freshman year.

Prior to Owens: While also playing baseball at Whitmer, Schmidlin earned First Team All-City League honors in golf.  He lists his greatest personal sports thrill as playing in the state golf tournament for coach John Muhn.
