Prior to Owens: Gessner was a three-time First-Team All-Greater Buckeye Conference selection at Napoleon. He was also part of the team that qualified for state in 2006. His greatest personal sports thrill is winning districts in 2006 at Redhawk and advancing to state for head coach Greg Merrill.

Personal: Darren is the son of Doug Gessner and Belinda Bernhard. He is an associate of arts, general concentration major at Owens.
