Hoelzer's 2-Under Leads No. 3 Express Men's Golf In First Day Of Nationals

Scottsboro, AL---The No. 3 Express men's golf team shot a 298 during the first day of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) D-II National Tournament.

Despite bogeying the final hole and missing a one-foot putt, Brandon Hoelzer led the Express with a two-under 70.

As a team, the Express are currently tied for eighth place. South Mountain Community College is in first place at 284. The Express are currently seven shots back of third place Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Hoelzer's 70 is good for a tie for fifth place individually.

Blaze HoganLuke Berger and Darren Gessner each shot a 76, while Walter Dorosh finished at 77.

The tournament takes the top four scores of each team's five golfers, thus resulting in the 298 for the Express.

Notes

The tee times for Wednesday will be in reverse order of Tuesday. Thus, the tee times for the Express will be as follows: Gessner (Group 26 at 10:45 a.m.), Berger (Group 27, 10:54 a.m.), Hogan (Group 28, 11:03 a.m.), Dorosh (Group 29, 11:12 a.m.) and Hoelzer (Group 30, 11:21 a.m.).

Additionally, Jason Glass will compete tomorrow to round out the trio teeing off at 1 p.m. His score will not count towards the Express team score.

The tournament is being held at Goose Pond Colony Golf Course in Scottsboro, AL.
