Hogan's 3-under 69 Leads Express Men's Golf To First Place at Olivet College Fall Invitational

Battle Creek, MI---Blaze Hogan led the Express men's golf team to a first place finish in the Olivet College Lou Collins Memorial Tournament on Saturday.

Hogan's second-day 3-under 69 led an Express team that shot 285 the second day. After a first day 298, the Express finished 12 strokes better than Bethel College (IN). Hope College finished third with a 596.

Hogan, along with his even par 72 the first day, finished as the medalist at 3-under 141. His teammate, Philip Weppernig finished third with a 1-under 143. He had been the co-leader after one round.

Two other Express golfers finished in the top 15. Brandon Hoelzer shot a 78-72 for a 7-over 150, and Harrison Long had a 79-71 for a 6-over 150. Both of them tied for 15th place.

Kirby Manown closed out the Express lineup with scores of 78-74 for an 8-over 152.

Notes

On the second day, the Express had a low scoring order of Hogan (69), Long (71), Hoelzer (72), Weppernig (73) and Manown (74).

Hogan's second-day 69 was the lowest score in either round of the tournament.

There were 17 teams in the tournament. The order of finish was Owens CC (583), Bethel College (595), Hope College (596), Indiana Wesleyan University (607), Spring Arbor University (608), Trine University (610), Wheaton College (610), Madonna University (611), Kalamazoo College (614), Calvin College (616), Franklin College (618), Alma College (624), Albion College (636), Olivet College (637), Trinity Christian (640), Aquinas College (665) and Olivet College - B (738).

The Express finished last year's tournament in second place. Aside from the national tournament, it was one of only two tournaments in which the Express did not win during both their fall and spring seasons.

The tournament was held at Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
