Express Men's Golf Places Two Teams In Top Four At Jon P. Spiess Memorial Tournament

Wauseon, OH---The Express men's golf team placed two teams in the top four of the Jon P. Spiess Memorial Tournament at Ironwood Golf Course today.

The Express "A" team shot a 300, which was good for second place. That team was led by Brandon Hoelzer's 71, while Blaze Hogan (73), Kirby Manown (77), Philippe Weppernig (79) and Harrison Long (80) rounded out that group.

Meanwhile, Dru Hein's 74 led the Express "B" team to a fourth place finish with a team total of 309. Other scores for that team include Timothy Dawkins (75), Tyler Crossley (76), Neil Recker (84) and Riley Robinson (91).

Trine University's "A" team took home first place with a 288, while Siena Heights University shot a 305 for third place. Rochester College's 310 rounded out the top five team scores.

Other participants in the tournament included Trine University's "B" team (311), Defiance College (317), Cleary University (318), Jackson College (322), Heidelberg College (331), Lourdes University (334) and Heidelberg College (338).

Individually, Hoelzer finished tied for third overall, while Blaze Hogan tied for eighth place. Hein and Dawkins finished ninth and 10th, respectively. Crossley also finished in the top 15.

The tournament was hosted by Defiance College.

The Express will be back in action Sept. 16-17 in the Purdue University Calumet Mike Lalaeff Memorial Invitational.
