Hoelzer Shoots 77, Express Men's Golf in Second Place After Round One of Mike Lalaeff Memorial

Hammond, IN---The Express men's golf team sits in second place after shooting a 317 in the first round of the 16-team Mike Lalaeff Memorial Invite.

Brandon Hoelzer led the Express in the round with a 77, while Philippe Weppernig (78), Blaze Hogan (80), Dru Hein (82) and Harrison Long (82) rounded out the starting five.

Hoelzer is tied for sixth place individually, while Weppernig is tied for 10th and Hogan is tied for 19th. Hein and Long are tied for 27th.

As individuals, Timothy Dawkins shot an 80 for lowest score among the three Express players. Also participating were Kirby Manown (82) and Tyler Crossley (82).

Dawkins is tied for 19th individually, while Manown and Crossley are tied for 27th individually.

Notes

The second and final round will take place on Tuesday at Lost Marsh Golf Course in Hammond, IN. We'll bring you results after the action concludes.

Saint Xavier is currently in first place with a 304, while the Express (317) and Carthage College (318) round out the top three.

Tyler Nicol of Purdue-Calumet, the host school, leads all individuals after an opening round 72.
