Toledo, OH---The Owens Express men's golf team has achieved a milestone in program history - their first ever No. 1 ranking in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) D-II poll.

The poll, which was released today, has Owens first, John A. Logan College second, Walters State Community College third, Kirkwood Community College fourth and Grand Rapids Community College fifth.

The Express, who haven't had a group finish lower than fourth this fall while capturing two championships, will host the Owens Fall Invitational at Heather Downs Country Club tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.

The team consists of sophomores Tyler Crossley, Timothy Dawkins, Brandon Hoelzer, Blaze Hogan and Riley Robinson, as well as freshmen Dru Hein, Harrison Long, Kirby Manown III, Ian Mowry, Neil Recker and Philippe Weppernig.

Hoelzer is a reigning NJCAA D-II All-American, and the Express men's golf team finished 10th in the nation at the NJCAA D-II National Tournament this past spring. They reached as high as No. 2 in the nation last season.

The team is coached by Josh Williams, a second-year head coach who has been with the program as either a player or coach since its inception in 2005.
