Long's 72 Propels No. 1 Owens Men's Golf To Seventh Straight Tournament Championship

Chillocothe, Ohio---The No. 1 Owens Community College men's golf team continued to roll today, shooting a 304 and capturing first place by 18 strokes in the 15-team Ohio University - Chillicothe Invitational.

The five person team of Harrison Long (Wilnecote/Tamworth, UK), Philippe Weppernig (Kantonsschule Alpenquai Luzern/Luzern, Switzerland), Brandon Hoelzer (Fremont Ross/Fremont, Ohio), Dru Hein (Jasper/Jasper, Ind.) and Timothy Dawkins (Big Rapids/Big Rapids, Mich.) battled heavy winds and cold weather to capture the program's seventh straight tournament championship dating back to this past fall.

Long earned medalist honors with an even par 72, while Weppernig (76), Hoelzer (77), Hein (79) and Dawkins (85) followed him.

The next closest team to the Express was Shawnee State and Miami Hamilton's "A" team, which each shot a 322. Ohio University - Chillicothe added a 325 and Cincinnati State shot a 326. 

The event was held at the Chillicothe Jaycee Golf Course.

The No. 1 Express will be back in action on April 9 in the Trine University Invitational. Action begins at 1 p.m.
