On A Roll! No. 1 Owens Men's Golf Wins Eighth Straight Tournament

Angola, Ind.---The No. 1 Owens Community College men's golf team rolled through their competition for the eighth straight time today with a first place finish in the A.C. Eddy Invitational held at Zollner Golf Course.

The Express had four players finish in the top 10 as they shot an 11-under 277 to win by 16 strokes over second place Trine University and 17 strokes over third place Madonna University.

The day went so well that the Express had the top three individual finishers. Brandon Hoelzer (Fremont Ross/Fremont, Ohio) and Harrison Long (Wilnecote/Tamworth, U.K.) tied for medalist honors with a 4-under 68 each, while Philippe Weppernig (Kantonsschule Alpenquai Luzern/Luzern, Switzerland) shot a 3-under 69 for third place.

Dru Hein (Jasper/Jasper, Ind.) shot an even par 72 to finish in a tie for ninth place, while Kirby Manown (Belle Vernon/Belle Vernon, Penn.) shot a 4-over par 76 to tie for 30th place.

With today's victory, the Express have won eight straight tournaments dating back to their first place finish at the Defiance College Fall Invitational on Sept. 22. Their next action will be on Friday in the Miami-Hamilton Invitational at Hamilton Elks Golf Course.

Notes

Long has now earned medalist honors in each of the past three tournaments, and he has combined to shoot 7-under over the past two tournaments.

With Hoelzer and Long earning tying for medalist honors today, the Express now have six straight medalist winners.
