No. 1 Owens Men's Golf Edged Out By Two Strokes In OCCAC Opener, Winning Streak Snapped At Nine

Cincinnati, Ohio---The No. 1 Owens Community College men's golf team finished just two strokes off first place Cincinnati State Technical and Community College in today's Cincinnati State Invitational.

In the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) opener, Cincinnati State shot a 305, Owens shot a 307 and Columbus State shot a 316. Lakeland Community College (333) and Lorain County Community College (338) also participated.

Harrison Long (Wilnecote/Tamworth, U.K.) led the Express with a second place 73, while Brandon Hoelzer (Fremont Ross/Fremont, Ohio) shot a 75, Philippe Weppernig (Luzern, Switzerland) shot a 78, Dru Hein (Jasper/Jasper, Ind.) shot an 81 and Kirby Manown (Belle Vernon/Belle Vernon, Penn.) shot an 84.

Timothy Dawkins (Big Rapids/Big Rapids, Mich.), Tyler Crossley (Jonathan Alder/Plain City, Ohio) and Riley Robinson (St. Mary Catholic Central/Monroe, Mich.) participated individually and shot 85, 81 and 90, respectively.

The Express will be back in action tomorrow in the OCCAC South Invitational, which like today, will be held at Weatherwax Golf Course. Action begins at 9 a.m.

Notes

Long's streak of capturing medalist honors in four straight tournaments ended today, and the Express saw their streak of nine straight tournament championships come to an end.
