Hoelzer Gets No. 1 Owens Men's Golf Back On Track With OCCAC South Championship

Cincinnati, Ohio---Brandon Hoelzer (Fremont Ross/Fremont, Ohio) captured medalist honors as the No. 1 Owens Community College men's golf team won today's Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) South Invitational.

After seeing their winning streak snapped at nine the day before, the Express got back on track with their 309 team score, led by Hoezler's 74.

Dru Hein (Jasper/Jasper, Ind.) and Kirby Manown (Belle Vernon/Belle Vernon, Penn.) each shot a 77, while Philippe Weppernig (Luzern, Switzerland) shot a 78 and Harrison Long (Wilnecote/Tamworth, U.K.) shot an 80.

Individuals for the Express included Tyler Crossley (Jonathan Alder/Plain City, Ohio), Riley Robinson (St. Mary Catholic Central/Monroe, Mich.) and Timothy Dawkins (Big Rapids/Big Rapids, Mich.). They shot 81, 89 and 91, respectively.

The tournament, which was held at Weatherwax Golf Course, moved the Express into a first place tie with Cincinnati State Technical and Community College in the OCCAC standings. The Surge, who won yesterday's event, finished second today with a 316, while Columbus State Community College shot a 321 for third place.

The Express will be back in action on Thursday and Friday in the Cincinnati Christian Invitational at Miami Whitewater Forest Golf Course.
