Norman, Okla.---The Golf Coaches Association of America honored three Owens Community College men's golfers as PING All-Region and All-American results were announced this week.

Brandon Hoelzer (Fremont Ross/Fremont, Ohio) was named First Team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II PING All-American and PING All-East Region. He is one of only five players in the nation to earn First Team All-American honors.

Hoelzer's teammates, Philippe Weppernig (Luzern, Switzerland) and Harrison Long (Wilnecote/Tamworth, U.K.) were both also named to the PING All-East Region team.

Additionally, Long was one of only five players in the nation to make the PING All-Freshmen team.

The No. 3 Owens men's golf team is currently tied for second in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament in Plymouth, Ind. The team has just begun to tee off in today's second round, with the tournament closing out with two more rounds over the next two days.

Notes

Hoelzer, who earned First Team All-American honors from PING this year, was named an Honorable Mention All-American by PING and the NJCAA last year. This year's NJCAA All-Americans will be announced at the conclusion of this year's national tournament.

This year marks the third consecutive season in which the Owens men's golf team has placed three golfers on the PING All-East Region team. Hoelzer, Blaze Hogan and Darren Gessner earned the honors last year.
