Cincinnati, Ohio---The No. 5 Owens Community College men's golf team captured two second place finishes in the Cincinnati State Invitational and the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) South Invitational this weekend.

Yesterday, Philippe Weppernig (Luzern, Switzerland) fired a team-low 74 in the Cincinnati State Invitational to lead Owens to a 306 team finish, just two shots behind Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.

Harrison Long (Wilnecote/Tamworth, U.K.) added a 76, Dominic DiGiacomo (Ocean City/Ocean City, N.J.) had a 77, Wyatt Spalding (Summerfield/Petersburg, Mich.) had a 79, Christian Bienaime (Lake Brantley/Altamonte Springs, Fla.) had an 80 and Dru Hein (Jasper/Jasper, Ind.) had an 85.

While Cincinnati State's 304 was good enough for first place in its own invitational, Owens shot a 306, Columbus State Community College tied Owens for second with a 306. Lakeland Community College's 319 was good for fourth place.

Today, the scores improved for three of the four teams, but the results remained mostly the same as Cincinnati State's 294 earned them first place.

Owens shot a 299 for second, while Columbus State had a 315 for third place and Lakeland had a 329 for fourth place.

Long tied Cincinnati State's Taylor Suggs for medalist honors with a 71. Bienaime's outstanding performance earned him a 73, while Spalding had a 77. DiGiacomo and Weppernig each shot a 78, and Hein rounded out the lineup with an 80.

Owens is scheduled to be back in action on Sunday in the Columbus State Invitational beginning at 1 p.m.
