Long's Seventh Career Medalist Finish Leads No. 5 Owens Golf To First Place Finish In Lourdes Invitational

Sylvania, Ohio---Harrison Long's (Wilnecote/Tamworth, U.K.) 73 was the low score among all golfers in today's Lourdes Spring Invitational as the No. 5 Owens Community College men's golf team captured its first tournament championship of the spring season.

As a team, Owens shot a 313 to finish just one stroke ahead of Tiffin University. Rochester (Mich.) College shot a 319 to finish in third place.

Individually, Long's 73 was one stroke better than Rochester's Mason Motte and two strokes better than Tiffin's Alex Talbot.

For Owens, Christian Bienaime (Lake Brantley/Altamonte Springs, Fla.) and Wyatt Spalding (Summerfield/Petersburg, Mich.) each shot a 78 to finish in a tie for sixth place with two others. Dominic DiGiacomo (Ocean City/Ocean City, N.J.) and Philippe Weppernig (Luzern, Switzerland) each shot an 81 to finish in a tie with two others for 18th place, and Dru Hein (Jasper/Jasper, Ind.) fired an 83 for a 25th place tie.

The eight team, 43-player tournament was held at Heather Downs Country Club. After three second place finishes this spring, today's first place finish is the first championship of the spring season for the Owens golf team. They also completed a sweep of the Lourdes Invitational this year after taking first place in the Lourdes Fall Invitational on Oct. 19.

Since the beginning of the fall season, Owens has captured seven tournament championships.

Long's medalist finish was his third since the beginning of the fall season and seventh of his career.

Owens will be back in action on Sunday in the Lakeland Invitational beginning at 1 p.m.
