Kitipongpatana's 68, Quirk's 71 Has Owens Golf Just Two Strokes Back Of First In O.C. Lou Collins Invite

Battle Creek, Mich.---The Owens Community College men's golf team shot a 291 in the first round of today's Olivet College Lou Collins Memorial Invitational at Battle Creek Country Club.

With their score, Owens sits just two strokes back of Calvin College for first place.

For Owens, Harrison Quirk (Wilnecote/Tamworth, U.K.) shot a 71 to lead the starting lineup, although Karit Kitipongpatana (Bangkok, Thailand) shot a 4-under 68 as an individual and is tied for first place.

Will Mullins (St. Bernadette's/Bristol, U.K.) added a 72. Wyatt Spalding (Summerfield/Petersburg, Mich.) and Bandit Chaisuk (Nong Khai, Thailand) fired 74 each, and Dominic DiGiacomo (Ocean City/Ocean City, N.J.) had a 77.

Dylan Holsclaw (Plainfield/Plainfield, Ind.) shot a 78 as the second individual aside from Kitipongpatana.

Kitipongpatana is tied with Jamees Van Noord of Calvin College for first place. Quirk's 71 gives him a 1-under and has him tied for third place.

Behind Calvin College and Owens is third place Trine University. They shot a 295 for third place. All 10 teams in the tournament will compete in the final round tomorrow.
