Owens Golf Finishes Third In NJCAA Preview, Earns No. 7 National Ranking

Toledo, Ohio---The Owens Community College men's golf team recently finished third in the eight team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II tournament at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind.

In doing so, it helped the team earn a No. 7 ranking in the latest NJCAA Division II men's golf rankings. They are the highest northeast ranked team, just edging out Oakland (MI) Community College by one spot.

In the NJCAA Preview event, Bandit Chaisuk (Phathumthapwittayakarn/Nong Khai, Thailand) finished first individually with a 71-74--145, which put him one over.

Dominic DiGiacomo (Ocean City/Ocean City, N.J.) shot a 78-79--157 to tie for 11th place, and Karit Kitipongpatana (St. Dominic School/Bangkok, Thailand) shot an 80-81--161 for 24th place. Just behind Karit was Harrison Quirk (Wilnecote/Tamworth, U.K.), who finished in 25th with a 77-85--162.

Will Mullins (St. Bernadette's/Bristol, U.K.), Wyatt Spalding (Summerfield/Petersburg, Mich.) and Dylan Holsclaw (Plainfield/Plainfield, Ind.) also competed in the tournament. Mullins had a 78-85--163 for a 26th place tie, Spalding had an 82-82--164 for a 28th place tie and Holsclaw had an 89-82--171 for a 35th place tie.

No. 4 Kirkwood Community College won the tournament with a 315-300--615 (+39), and Parkland College finished second with a 312-305--617 (+41). As a team, Owens shot a 304-316--620 (+44).
